Since leaving full-time work last March, I've worked out of our spare room the four days I'm not at the office job - which has been GREAT (easy commute, no extra cost, working with no make up on...) but towards the end of last year, I was starting to feel a little cramped and restricted by working from home. It was tricky to switch off, to get away from it all, and the flat constantly looked...'worked in'! I saw this studio share on my Facebook feed and instantly had a good feeling about it!
Well, I am now the proud inhabitant of a high-ceilinged, light and bright and very friendly studio in a Victorian schoolhouse. CHECK ME OUT! I am sharing with the very wonderful mixed media artist Zoe Gibbons, with costume designer Jenny Brent just over the partition.
There's still lots of 'things' that need to be moved in, but it's been great to have a month to get used to the space with maximum space and minimum clutter. I've already noticed a clearer mind when I get home - although my computer is still here, so I haven't quite stopped ending my working day at 10.30 pm yet!
No doubt it will change a lot over time but here are a few snaps of my first month!
My next goal is to move the rest of my materials in, and then set up a proper photography area! My plan is a simple shelf that is adaptable enough to be used for many products, with interchangeable backdrops.
Have you done anything totally new and very exciting this year?
